My Spring Schedule 07

My spring schedule 06

MLL 3153 Russian Literature through Film: We’ll be reading some classic russian literature that has been later turned into a film and then analyzing the difference. I’m pretty sure it’s just an excuse to read lots of Nabokov and scorn the films for doing him no justice.

Expo 1213 Expository Writing "Deep Play": In this class we will ride a bunch of short stories based on the idea that everything in life is a game. As such, I’ll explain everyday activities as a competition without extrapolating on motives. It should be a nice education in the subtle usage of metaphors.

LTRS 4013 Literary and Cinematic Explorations of Power: We’ll see how authors treat the subject of power and power relations in novels and films. I’m thinking this class is going to be really interesting.

RELS 3203 Women and Religion: An Irvine class, concerning how women relate with religion in cultures both fundamentalist and not. I love taking Dr. Irvine’s classes.

MUSC 4970 Music and Gender: There wasn’t too much description. All I can hope is that it focuses more on modern music than on ancient… Even classical music would do but discussing "primitivism" offends me terribly.

CL C 3613 Classical Influences on Modern Literature "Utopias": We’ll read a whole bunch of Plato and then a whole bunch of Mill and look at how the idea of what Utopia is has changed through time. Should be a pretty nifty study.

All in all, lots of fiction, very little language, time to relax and rebuild my GPA.
